Advanced Robotics Intro

Attention: All sections of the Advanced Robotics area are ‘workbench’ areas, meaning that projects can be at any stage of progress – from early conceptualization to final reporting.

Welcome

Welcome to the Advanced Robotics section of the Xzistor LAB neuro-robotics laboratory.

This is the area of the laboratory dedicated to advanced AI projects exploiting the immense power of the X-zistor Concept brain model.

The advanced projects are conducted under two broad collaboration categories each with its own unique domain:

A month or so after we have completed all work on a project and discussed the results, I normally move some of the reports / videos to non-patron areas of the Xzistor LAB website.

Please take note

It is important to note that the difference between the Xzistor Concept and the many other brain models out there is the fact that the Xzistor Concept has already been proven. This website is therefore not an attempt to achieve a principal understanding of the brain – it is about showing you the evidence of the fully functional brain model I have developed capable of principally replicating all brain states – and letting you ponder and challenge your understanding of AI and the inevitable new world this discovery will lead to. I do this with the hope of stimulating the interest of all Labbers in advanced AI and in the hope of attracting the attention of parties who can help me take my research to the next level – supporting me to establish properly-equipped facilities to build the first truly humanoid robots of the Robot Age.

Blue Sky Lab

The Blue Sky Lab is the area where I do projects demonstrating that the Xzistor Concept can artificially replicate subjective states generated in the human mind e.g. hunger, anger, love, pain, fear, intuition, innovation, etc.

The Sage’s Cave

The Sage’s Cave – is the area where I look at the phenomenal insights that come out of this brain model (often more societal, moral, philosophical…and often a little surprising!).

Each of the above two areas have their own associated forums where Labbers can post questions via threads and contribute to the projects via comments .

A lot of my discussions will take place in these forums. Here we can share thoughts about advanced projects as they happen. I (we) will encounter challenges – some of these will be easy and some will be more difficult – but I know I can prove all that needs proving to make the Xzistor Concept the one-and-only fully functional brain model of choice to build robots with intelligence and emotion…and a world that will be safe and secure for humans and robots alike.

Come air your voice!

Blue Sky Forum – discussions around the groundbreaking AI demos I will develop as part of my projects.

Sage’s Cave Forum – discussions around the phenomenal insights that come out of this brain model (often more philosophical…and often shocking!).

When I do have a spare moment, I like to pop into these forums, as well as the Robot Builders Forum. I normally see if I can answer some questions or add some thoughts based on what others have posted. Sadly, I cannot respond to all the comments but will try to take onboard the requests / suggestions from my Labbers.

Advanced Projects

Advanced Project: Robots Learns to Talk

Aim: Demonstrate how Xzistor robots learn to speak – go here.

In preparation for collaborating on the project I suggest you look at the Entertainment video and make sure you understand the basics of Playing. Also have a play with the software tool below as we will be talking a little about sound wave spectrum analysis as a means of generating a unique digital representations of a word in the robot brain…it is here:

A handy tool to better understand sound wave spectra is this Windows Tool for Real-time Waveforms & Spectra which you can download for free courtesy of the University College London’s PSYCHOLOGY AND LANGUAGE SCIENCES team, part of the Faculty of Brain Sciences:

Real-time Sound Wave Spectrum Analyser: https://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/resource/sfs/rtspect/

RTSPECT is a free program for displaying a real time waveform and spectrum display of an audio signal. With RTSPECT you can monitor the waveform and spectral shape of sounds being played into the computer’s microphone or line input ports. RTSPECT can display one or two-channel audio signals.

Advanced Project: Robots Learn to Love

Aim: Demonstrate how Xzistor robots learn to love – go here.

This project is based on many questions around love in the robot brain – and yes the Xzistor Concept explains how love works in the mind and allows us to make robots feel real subjective love.

Having said that – what we are demonstrating here will start off as ‘lust’ and then move towards ‘love’ as Troopy learns more about the positive attributes of his object of desire.

Troopy’s admiration and affection for Elsa from the children’s movie Frozen is well-documented. Exactly why he has taken a fancy to this amiable Disney character is not quite clear but gossip magazines around the world have speculated that it could be the similarities between his clinical white lab environment and her snowy world. I am looking at building an ‘Elsa’-robot that could act as a partner for Troopy and teach him about love and the ‘birds and the beez’ ! 🙂

The projects explains many interesting physical aspects in terms of preferences, arousal and interesting parallels with the aggression algorithm (same basic class of algorithm). This includes lust, love, sexual arousal and gratification, and the elusive concept of euphoria.

Deciphering euphoria was about as difficult as developing the whole brain model itself and it was only by using the Xzistor Concept brain model as a point of departure, that I could gain insight into where this elusive mechanism was hiding and how to reproduce it artificially. Yes, the mathematics also explains how machines can experience euphoria!

To define the affection Troopy feels for Elsa as ‘love’ rather than ‘lust’ we are adding two ‘get-to-know opportunities’ where we let Elsa ‘feed’ Troopy and where we let Elsa be present when he plays so that her face becomes associated with happy (fun) times in Troopy’s world. In this way he not only appreciates her for her physical attributes, but also the fact that they have shared some happy moments together. All of this we will need to test step by step and then see if they hit it off. Should be another ‘world-first’… and a lot of fun! 🙂

Sage’s Cave

Beware! Here Be Dragons! Do not enter the Sage’s Cave if you have brick walls in your brain or preset notions about life or anything else that you are not prepared to challenge! Only come to the Cave if you are a pure scientist at heart and prepared to question anything, including all taboos and holy cows, and are prepared to put your ideas, notions and long-held beliefs to the test, else go back! You might encounter evidence that could turn your understanding of this world on its head!

Insights from the Brain Model

The advanced projects I will be conducting in the Blue Sky Lab will explore how the Xzistor Concept brain model can reproduce subjective mental states in the minds of robots, just like humans experience them. When studying the brain using this brain model, one cannot help become aware of many phenomenal new insights into the brain. Out of the mathematics come surprising explanations for many things we have been trying to understand for centuries – opening up a complete new explanation of the principal working of the brain. Here are some of the questions we will attempt to answer using the Xzistor Concept brain model:

  • How addiction works. (Active – work in progress)
  • Does free will exist? (Active – work in progress)
  • Do humans have a free will? (Active – work in progress)
  • The danger of innovation (Active – work in progress)
  • Curiosity in the mind. (Active – work in progress)
  • Euthanasia – a crime? (Active – work in progress)
  • What are emotions? How can be define them in mathematical terms? (Future)
  • How selfish are humans? (Future)
  • Was the human brain a design error? (Future)
  • How does depression work? (Future)
  • Would Xzistor Robots pose a threat to humans? (Future)
  • How to build robots without aggression. (Future)
  • What would a heaven for robots look like? (Future)
  • Why is the human brain afraid of death? (Future)
  • Where does paranoia originate in the brain? (Future)
  • How can humans achieve optimal happiness? (Future)
  • Does the Xzistor Concept aid in understanding the human brain biological structures?

These and many other amazing topics will be discussed at the hand of the Xzistor Concept brain model. Head over to the Sage’s Cave where nothing is taboo and some startling truths about the brain are revealed (not for the fainthearted or those with fixed ideas about the brain and the world we live in….do not head over there if you are not prepared to consider scientific evidence or challenge your understanding of life, the creation and all that sits behind our existence on this planet….
